Anti-bullying

Anti-bullying Ambassadors were established at St. Joseph's in November 2014. Their main role is to be a visible presence on the playground to support and encourage children who find relationships difficult.  They regularly attend meetings to plan and organise events to maintain the profile of Anti-bullying across the school.

In April 2015, 14 members of the Anti-bullying Council attended national training in Kettering through the Diana award and anti-bullying ambassador training. Some of the events they have arranged included World Smile Day, Kindness Day, 'Wear it Blue', Compliment Day and Odd Sock Day. All the children enjoyed these events and the Anti-bullying Ambassadors have been instrumental in contributing to the schools Anti-bullying policy and have written their own child friendly versions for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Anti-Bullying Ambassador training:

On Tuesday 16 October the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors from St Joseph’s attended training with Paul Hanmore, from The Diana Award. They were also joined by staff and children from Sacred Heart Primary School. The children took part in a range of fun activities that encouraged them to appreciate how everyone is different and to give them the confidence and ideas to help other children. At the end of the training they were enthused and full of ideas of how to develop their role and raise the profile of Anti-Bullying in school.
