Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
Welcome to RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
All children are growing up in a world that can be both positive and challenging. We need to give the pupils of St Joseph’s the skills that they need to manage themselves as developing adults, making safe and positive choices that affect both physical health and mental well-being.
Our RSHE curriculum is taught sensitively and inclusively. Care is taken to ensure that all children’s needs are met, through well planned lessons, interesting resources, engaging activities and visitors. The curriculum is taught through the combination of two schemes: ‘Christopher Winter’ and ‘Journey in Love’. The scheme of work by ‘Christopher Winter’ ensures that pupils receive the education that is required by the statutory guidance. This is supplemented by ‘Journey in Love,’ a Catholic scheme of work, recommended by the Northampton Diocese. This reflects the school’s values and Mission Statement.
Please do have a look at the planning documents for each year group which provides further information as to how every lesson is taught in each year group, and how you can support your child in their learning.
