Year 2

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Luton, Year 2 builds on the knowledge, skills and confidence developed in Year 1.

Using the end of Key Stage expectations alongside careful assessment, we identify each child’s strengths, any gaps in learning and the support or challenge they need to move forward. We maintain high expectations for all children, adapting teaching and resources to ensure that everyone, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, can participate fully in our broad and engaging curriculum.

Through targeted support, practical activities and opportunities to deepen understanding, children strengthen their skills in reading, writing and mathematics while developing curiosity, independence and resilience.

Guided by our mission, “In the Light of Jesus we Learn to Shine,” we celebrate each child’s progress and help every pupil feel included, valued and ready for the next stage of their learning.
